#10 Marshmallow cupcakes

Well, some of them... made for Nixi's birthday, I had a near disaster having planned some super girly cupcakes with marshmallow filling and dolly mixture decorations... as just as i went to fill them with marshmallow remembered both of these sweets have BEEF in them! yuuuuummm.... but not vegetarian... so I just filled a couple for records sake, and left the others plain and sprinkled the mixtures around inside another of her presents- the super cake dome. ( of which I have since bought myself and my sister one). loves it.

Just for the pic...

These were made for Miss Nevay's birthday, just some vanilla spong with malteser for added smashingness, but just rather enjoyed the picture in her new, but very old, quality street tin. A Thooper vintage kitchen buy. And not on purpose, the icing matched the tissue paper inside to a t... I would rather eat the icing though. yummers.

big bad baking day

All for a friend's mum's surprise 60th birthday party... I had so much fun with this baby! 60 cupcakes: vanilla, chocolate, raspberry and white chocolate, caramel mudcake, and lemon; 2 baked cheesecakes: mixed berry, and chocolate and baileys; and boxes and boxes of malteser slice and rocky road. I'm not going to lie... if I didn't have my trusty dualit hand mixer, I probably wouldn't have an arm left right now, but I do, and I do, so all is well.

I loved taking pics of these: the raspberry swirl sponges with white chocolate butter icing with a cute wee chocolate cnowball on top, they make me think of the 50's for some reason.
Yes I got a bit carried away...
 ok very carried away...
others are starting to slip in... the brown ones are... quite obviously.. the chocolate cupcakes... can't go wrong for a big party I'd say! Got some teeny weeny little mini eggs, so miniminieggs really, all a nice bluey purple colour on top of these. The Yeller's are the lemon cupcakes, same as in previous post, different piping- remind me of the great Frenchie in grease looking like a 'beautiful blonde pineapple'...
And the lovely vanilla roses with edible glitter! WOOOOO. yes. you can't beat a bit of edible glitter.
These are the cheeseycakes in polaroid form. nom nom nom.
And the caramel and white chocolate mud cakes. Nice and dense and moist with some chocolatey fudge icing onnatop. mm. mm. and mm.

All packed up and ready to go.. you can just see a bit of tray bake in the top tubs, wasn't so enamoured taking pics of that I packed it away as soon as made it (mostly because there was zero room in my teeny kitchen). Bye bye cakes : )

#9 Peaches and Cream (with a valentines twist)

Can you guess the valentines twist?! I really am no fan of Valentines day, but I was quite excited watching 'baking make easy' the other week when she showed that pithing the strawberry means instant hearts when you chop'em, I usually just lop the top off! So what better time to try. Rather more tasty than the delightfully (disgustingly) furry red heart cushions I noticed in tesco earlier. Not that I tasted them but I think it's a given. So these are tasty little peach and vanilla sponges with cream cheesey butter icing and a straaaaawberry ona top! Nice and simple. Smashingly tasty.

#8 Lemon Cupcakes

Now I'm not usually one for citrussy sweet things... just not enough chocolate for my liking... but these- hooh! I could in fact have eaten this whole tray full if they were not for other people. I think I may infact be getting too-attached-to-my-cakes disorder hehe. Anyway, these are a slightly lemony sponge, filled with lovely lemon curd, and topped with lemony butter icing. That's a lorra' lemon! But not so much it makes you gurn like sucking on a lemon, they're just poifect!

#7 Blackcurrant Muffins

MMMmmmmmmmoist! Freshest of the fresh made with blackcurrants from Val's garden (it's a bit of a late back-blog for all you people who know the blackcurrant season is not exactly in full swing) With a yummy lemon cream cheese icing and some frosted berries on top. Who doesn't love a cake that also gives you one of your 5 a day?! It's practially an orange...

#6 Red Velvet

Whaaaat a colour! And it only takes half a bottle of food colouring... The classic red velvet sponge with cream cheese icing, nice wee bit of cocoa in the sponge, tis super soft. Just in time for a wee valentine themed cupcakey day if you're running low on ideas! Much better than a bunch of flowers picked up from the local garage. A combination of the two however: unstoppable...
